Boise City Council President Holli Woodings resigns

Boise City Council President Holli Woodings has announced that she will resign effective Friday, July 21.

According to a release from the City, Woodings and her family are moving to Washington, D.C. "It's bittersweet to leave early, but it's with the health and happiness of my family in mind. We are excited for the next chapter of our lives–starting in new schools and exploring opportunities to work and play in a new place," said City Council President Holli Woodings.

"In Boise, I have been able to build irreplaceable friendships, work with incredible people, get a valuable education at Boise State, start a family, grow a business and serve our state and city, all while nurturing a love for the outdoors. Boise will always be my home, and so many parts of Boise's story are my story too.

Mayor McLean will appoint a replacement from the current District 5, the district Woodings was elected to in 2021, and that person will serve out the remainder of the term.

Candidates seeking appointment must be qualified electors in District 5, using the legal boundaries from the 2021 election map. Previous eligible applicants to serve in District 5 are encouraged to apply. Applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, 2023. More information can be found on the city's website.
